Bold Writers are a relatively small, relaxed writing group who have been in existence for 20 years. Meetings are held once a fortnight on a Tuesday evening from 7.30 to 9.30 pm. Currently, members alternate their meetings to meet face to face once a month at the Sutton Coldfield Methodist Church Hall in South Parade (Postcode: B72 1QY). In between, meetings are held by zoom.
Prospective new members are most welcome to come along to one of our meetings to see what we are about. The first 'taster' session is free.
Members are encouraged to write when and as often as they feel the urge. At our meetings, lively discussions on a variety of topics are peppered with reading work out and where asked for, receiving constructive feedback. We also enjoy running in-house workshops and have the occasional author come and talk to us.
Most of our members concentrate their efforts on writing short stories and a little poetry. A couple of our members have produced their own Anthologies /Self published novels.
To help promote the group and provide a vehicle for our writing, we have to date produced fourteen group Anthologies featuring nearly four hundred stories and poems. Between 2011 and 2014 we marketed and sold copies of four of these to the general public, raising over £3,000 for two local charities - St Giles Hospice and The Norman Laud Association.
